Mexico City restaurant Quintonil has achieved an unprecedented honor for Mexican cuisine, securing the third spot on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 list. This marks the first time any Mexican restaurant has reached the top three in this prestigious global ranking, as announced at a ceremony in Turin, Italy.
Run by chef Jorge Vallejo and his wife Alejandra Flores, Quintonil has earned recognition for its contemporary approach to Mexican cuisine. The restaurant specializes in reinterpreting traditional ingredients and recipes using modern techniques, with many ingredients sourced from a nearby urban garden.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants organization praised Quintonil for Vallejo’s innovative use of Mexican flavors combined with the exceptional hospitality provided by Flores. The restaurant’s name refers to a green herb featured in several of its dishes and cocktails.
This international recognition follows Quintonil’s recent achievement of earning a second Michelin star, placing it among Mexico’s most decorated restaurants.
