The popular destination in Baja California Sur is witnessing changes in its tourism landscape. Notably, average hotel rates have decreased, dropping 10% from $553 in March 2024 to $498 in March 2025, with a further decline to $488 in April.
Variations in Hotel Rates
- San José del Cabo: Rates have decreased by 18% to $279 per night.
- La Ruta Escénica: Rates have dropped 6% to $665.
- Cabo San Lucas: Rates increased by 5% to $355 nightly, despite having more hotel rooms than the other areas combined.
Domestic tourism to Los Cabos has surged 8.5% in the first four months of 2025, with almost half a million Mexican visitors. While international arrivals remain the majority at 913,000 tourists, they have seen a slight decline of 0.4% compared to the previous year. Mexico City leads the domestic market at 35%, whereas California is dominant among international arrivals, accounting for 37% of visitors.

Los Cabos is positioning itself effectively in the lucrative wellness tourism market, attracting approximately 18% of visitors who consider wellness a key part of their travel experience. These travelers spend about $3,000 per trip, reflecting the destination’s luxury appeal.
