American Airlines is expanding its operations in Mexico with new flight routes connecting Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Mexico City and Querétaro. This strategic move further establishes American Airlines as the leading U.S. airline serving Mexico.
Starting October 26, the airline will introduce year-round service between Chicago and Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport. This new route places American Airlines in direct competition with United Airlines and Mexican carriers such as Aeroméxico, Viva Aerobus, and Volaris.
New Seasonal Route
The airline also plans to launch a seasonal holiday service between Chicago and Querétaro. This service will operate daily from December 18 to January 5, 2026, providing travelers with access to the historic center of Querétaro, Mexico’s wine region, and the popular San Miguel de Allende.
These new routes will enhance American Airlines’ extensive Mexico network, which will include more than 430 peak daily departures to 97 destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America during the winter season.
New Route to Puerto Escondido
Additionally, American Airlines is proceeding with its previously announced plans to introduce flights between Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca. This twice-weekly, year-round service will begin on December 3, marking the airline’s 30th destination in Mexico.
