Canadian carrier Porter Airlines is expanding its international footprint with new direct flights to Mexico’s popular beach destinations beginning this November.

The Toronto-based airline will connect three Canadian cities – Toronto Pearson, Ottawa, and Hamilton – with Cancún in Quintana Roo and Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco. The service is part of Porter’s broader expansion into Latin American and Caribbean destinations.

Flight Schedule

  • Toronto Pearson: Seven weekly flights to Cancún starting November 5.
  • Ottawa and Hamilton: Multiple weekly connections to Cancún starting December 17.
  • Toronto to Puerto Vallarta: Service begins November 14.
  • Ottawa and Hamilton to Puerto Vallarta: Routes launching in mid-December.

The new routes will utilize Porter’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, featuring the airline’s distinctive comfort-focused amenities including no middle seats and complimentary beer and wine served in glassware.

The expansion comes as air travel between Canada and Mexico continues to grow, with passenger numbers reaching 5.3 million in 2024 – a 10.41% increase over pre-pandemic figures from 2019.

Impact on Tourism

Jalisco tourism officials welcomed the addition, noting that no other airline currently connects Hamilton to Puerto Vallarta. With these new routes, Jalisco now has air connections to 17 Canadian airports, further strengthening tourism ties between the two countries.
