Copa Airlines Launches Direct Flights from Los Cabos to Panama Hub

Copa Airlines is set to initiate the first-ever direct flight linking Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, with Central America via its Panama City hub, commencing December 4, 2025. This new route is anticipated to notably enhance accessibility to the much-loved Mexican resort destination for travelers from Latin America.

The service will operate thrice weekly—on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays—utilizing Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Flights are scheduled to depart from Panama’s Tocumen International Airport at 9:09 a.m. local time, arriving at Los Cabos International Airport at 1:33 p.m. The return flights will depart Los Cabos at 1:33 p.m. and reach Panama at 8:30 p.m. local time.

This development holds substantial significance, as Panama’s Tocumen airport functions as Copa’s “Hub of the Americas,” providing connections to more than 20 destinations across Central and South America. This effectively removes the need for Latin American travelers to have stopovers in Mexico City or the United States when heading to Los Cabos.

Los Cabos as Copa’s Fifth Mexican Destination

Los Cabos is set to become Copa’s fifth Mexican destination, alongside Monterrey, Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Cancún. The introduction of this new route is expected to attract approximately 25,000 tourists annually from Central and South America to Los Cabos.

The Baja California Sur Ministry of Tourism has emphasized that this new connection is in line with efforts to diversify tourism markets and bolster local economic development. This move complements the continuous growth of visitors from Central and South America since 2020.
